Brain Awareness Week
March 10 - 16, 2014
For the last several years Dr. Stavnezer and Neuroscience and Psychology students have taken Brain Awareness Week activities to Lincoln Way Elementary after care program and the kindergarten program at the Montessori school of Wooster.
The students had the chance to learn about the different regions of the brain with brain models, sheep and cow brains, by building their own playdoh brain and coloring a take-home brain hat. They found out why their fingers can feel more than their arms, how their brains learn new tasks and how they can see color better right in front of their eyes than in the periphery. Most importantly, they learned how to keep brains safe and healthy with helmets and healthy diets.
