I can’t afford a private college!
We understand that many families have this concern, which is why it is our goal to provide information to applicants and their families about how to make college more affordable. Wooster is particularly fortunate to have incredibly successful and loyal alumni who donate generously, allowing us to provide surprisingly large aid awards.
This year, for example, more than 85% of our students received some assistance. Over $50 million of this aid takes the form of merit scholarships and need-based grants that are offered to students without any repayment obligation. Other major forms of financial aid available to incoming and current Wooster students includes over $7 million in loans and $1 million in campus employment opportunities.
I won’t qualify for financial aid!
That could be, but why not find out?
We offer current high school seniors the opportunity to get an early idea of what financial aid – including merit scholarships – they could qualify for. It’s quick, easy and free. Most of the information needed to complete the Early Aid Estimator can be found on your high school transcript (for merit aid estimate) and your parents’ 2015 federal tax forms (for need-based estimate). With this information the Early Aid Estimator can be completed in less than 10 minutes!
Complete the Early Aid Estimator online. We will evaluate the completed information you submit and provide a custom estimate of your financial aid eligibility at Wooster.
And don’t forget, our generous merit scholarships reward your hard work and academic achievement! In fact, Money magazine ranked Wooster number 10 on its list of the best private colleges for merit aid.
When can I officially apply for financial aid?
The 2017-2018 FAFSA becomes available on October 1. We encourage families to complete the FAFSA as soon after this date as possible, and to submit the results to Wooster.
