The College of Wooster, a national liberal arts and sciences institution located in northeast Ohio, invites applications for the full-time position of Senior Director of Development.
The Senior Director for Development manages the major gifts and annual giving teams, providing leadership to support the cultivation and solicitation of annual and major gifts. The Senior Director works with the Vice President and directors to plan strategically for fundraising efforts including a comprehensive campaign. Other responsibilities include evaluating and adjusting/implementing strategies for long-term fundraising success, managing a portfolio of major gift prospective donors, making 100 visits annually with emphasis on cultivating and closing gifts from donors with $100k+ capacity, developing annual budget recommendations and hiring, coaching, and evaluating direct reports.
Bachelor’s Degree is required with five years or more years of fundraising and management experience. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to lead major gift and annual giving work in a fast -paced, team oriented environment. The successful candidate will have progressive responsibility in institutional development, with a proven track record of closing significant gifts and have the ability to develop strategies to achieve fundraising goals, analyze results and adjust plans to reflect those results. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the value of a residential liberal arts and sciences education. Travel is required for this position.
