Independent Minds, Working Together

What does that mean?

It means Wooster is a diverse, supportive, unpretentious community of learners where students can be themselves, discover and pursue their passions, and forge lifelong bonds with faculty, coaches, staff, and one another that enrich their experience and sustain the College’s tradition of excellence.

Wooster offers an excellent, comprehensive liberal education, culminating in a rigorous, in-depth senior project of inquiry or creative expression, called Independent Study. By working one-on-one in partnership with a faculty adviser to conceive, organize and complete this project on a topic of his or her own choosing, every Wooster student develops abilities valued by employers and graduate schools alike: initiative, self-confidence, independent judgment, creative problem solving, and strong written and oral communication skills.

This distinctive educational program makes Wooster the nation’s premier liberal arts college for mentored undergraduate research.

Living and Learning Together

Because all students live on campus, in options ranging from small houses to suites to traditional residence halls, Wooster is a 24/7 living and learning environment. Opportunities for leadership and engagement abound.

Wooster students love to perform, and perform well, in a wide range of musical groups. They appreciate the vibrancy of a campus filled with performing and visual arts. They are as serious about athletics as they are about academics, and passionately pursue excellence in both.

Most of all, they enjoy being part of a campus community characterized by real diversity of thought, belief, background and interest. Wooster is not a place where people try to put you in a box.
