Major at Wooster: Chemistry
After completing my Independent Study at Wooster, I feel comfortable researching a topic and learning new material on my own rather than relying on a lecture to gain new understanding. This skill has been incredibly helpful in graduate school as it is often necessary to further your knowledge past the material that is presented in the classroom in order to excel. I believe this skill is what led to being recognized for placing in the top ten percent of my class after the first year of dental school. Upon graduation, I hope to join a dental practice where I can gain real world experience and eventually establish my own office. It is also in my future plans to contribute in improving the oral health of the Hispanic population by outreach activities and increasing awareness among dental professionals of the unique needs of this community. I am currently serving as President of the OSU chapter of the Hispanic Student Dental Association.
