The Fall semester Senior I.S. seminar series provides an opportunity for students to present their work in progress on their I.S. projects and to receive feedback that will help them to move forward with their work.
The goals of having the I.S. presentations in the fall are:
- to provide students an early opportunity to form a research community or connections with other seniors working on IS
- to help the students to get an early start on organizing their thoughts on the purpose, design, interpretation, and significance of their IS work
- to provide students with feedback on their proposed approaches for addressing their research questions
Students will each give a 10-12 minute oral presentation that includes:
- Research Question
- Background
- Experimental/Study Design
- Preliminary Data if available
- Proposed interpretation of results
- Significance of research
- Areas/questions on which they would like feedback from the audience
The students in the audience are expected to actively engage in the I.S. presentations by listening carefully, asking insightful questions, and providing feedback to the presenters.
