Students continuing at the College must file the FAFSA each year to reapply for federal and state financial aid. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) toward college costs is re-calculated each year. This will determine any changes in your eligibility to receive federal and state grants, student loans, and federal work-study. Each student and one parent must have an FSA ID (.pdf) to submit a FAFSA.
To reapply for institutional need-based aid, the following should be submitted by April 1, 2017:
- Complete the 2017-2018 FAFSA* (Wooster's federal school code is 003037)
- Complete the Wooster Supplementary Aid Application* (.pdf)
Copies of 2015 federal income tax returns and W-2 statements will be requested from families as needed and prior to review of any special circumstances. Your application for institutional need-based aid is complete when we receive your supplemental aid application and your FAFSA electronic report. *Exception – If you are selected by the federal processor for the special Verification review, you will be required to submit additional information.
If your application is submitted late, you may receive less aid because of limited funds.
The College of Wooster is required by federal regulations to validate the accuracy of the financial information of students identified by the U.S. Department of Education for verification. Wooster may also select students for verification. Students who have been selected for verification, either by the U.S. Department of Education or by The College of Wooster will be notified by the Financial Aid Office of all required documents and due dates. The Department of Education encourages all applicants to utilize the IRS tax data retrieval tool when completing the FAFSA. This tool is available to most tax filers who have a processed tax return on file with the IRS and inputs tax return information into the FAFSA directly from the IRS. If you are selected for verification and are unable, or choose not, to use the data retrieval tool, you must request a tax return transcript from the IRS and submit it to the Financial Aid Office.
Financial aid eligibility will not be finalized until all requested verification documentation is received. Financial aid awards are subject to change based on the accuracy of information submitted on the FAFSA.
Financial Aid Disbursements
One half of the annual comprehensive fee will be billed prior to the start of each semester and one half of the student's annual financial aid (except work study) will reduce this charge. Federal aid remains pending until 10 days before the first day of class each semester.

Need-based Aid Award Notification
Review of students who have completed the application process will begin on April 1, 2017. Award notices will be mailed to your campus mailbox during the spring semester or to your home address when the semester has ended.
