Dean Yorgun Marcel oversees & coordinates retention efforts and services for international students, supports and advises student organizations within the international student population, and is a member of the first watch team. He also teaches two sections of the global engagement seminar, supports efforts of all offices within the CDI, and supervises the implementation of CDI specific programs and initiatives.
Before joining the College of Wooster in 2012, Dean Yorgun Marcel had previously served as Director of Intercultural Programs at Buena Vista University in Iowa, and Director of Student Activities with the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. He was born in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire his father’s homeland, and is also citizen of the Cape Verde Islands, his mother’s homeland. Dean Marcel holds a master’s degree in International Communications from St. Cloud State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from CSU Dominguez Hills, both of which he pursued as an international student in the United States.
He also has professional experience in serving as the State Chair & C.E.O. of Minnesota State University Student Association (MSUSA) as well as the President & C.E.O of Associated Students Inc. CSU Dominguez Hills.
Currently, Dean Marcel is pursuing an Ed. D in Education Leadership from the University of New England-Maine.
