College Notes with Sadness the Passing of Trustee Emeritus John Smeltz

Served his alma mater with distinction in many roles over five decades

WOOSTER, Ohio, June 17 - It is with deep sadness that The College of Wooster notes the passing of John E. Smeltz, an emeritus life member of the board of trustees. A member of the Class of 1944, and life-long resident of Shaker and Cleveland Hts., Ohio, he served his alma mater with distinction in many capacities over five decades, including a dozen years as a member of the board and six years as an alumni trustee.

A celebration of Mr. Smeltz’s life will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 3 p.m., at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Hts. A reception will follow at the Cleveland Skating Club.
