WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster Jazz Ensemble will perform with the Ashland University Jazz Orchestra on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center on the campus of Ashland University. The performance will be directed by Scott Garlock, associate professor of music at Ashland University and a visiting faculty member at Wooster, substituting for Jeff Lindberg, who is on sabbatical.
The Wooster Jazz Ensemble will open the concert with selections from “Coconut Champagne” by Denis DiBlasio, “Four Flats Searching For a Theme” (featuring junior pianist Micah Motenko) by Billy Byers, “Besame Mucho” (arranged by Scott Garlock), “Scoot” (a trumpet section feature) by Neal Hefti, “Funky Cha-Cha” (featuring trumpeters Etienne Mariscotte and Michael Terribile) by Arturo Sandoval, “Moanin'” by Charles Mingus, and “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” by Joe Zawinul. The Ashland University Jazz Orchestra’s performance will include selections by Paul Ferguson and Dave Matthews.
The Wooster Jazz Ensemble will also perform at The College of Wooster on Friday, Nov. 5, with jazz violinist Zach Brock, of the Zach Brock Trio.
