The Equestrian Team has been very successful since it started organizing in 2003 and showing in 2004. It was started by Julia Horst, a student at the College of Wooster. Advisor is Bryan Karazsia. We have been competitive with the other colleges in our region in Hunter, Western and Dressage. We have had riders qualify for regional, zone, and national competition.
Students of all abilities can participate, beginner through advanced. There are two coaches. Karla Forrer is the ISHA hunt seat, western, and IDA dressage coach. Brigid Cain is the assistant hunt seat coach. Each coach has their own barn and horses. Students travel in groups to lessons at the appropriate barn. Students don't usually bring their own horses to college, but they may if they choose. No student is allowed to compete on their own horse. Students may participate in the club without showing if they desire.
Our team is small (about 16 students show, and 25 club members) which has some major advantages. There are no tryouts, so everyone who takes lessons can show if they chose to. Our team members are supportive of each other and the members have found it a lot of fun. Several members have stated that horse show weekends are the most fun weekends at the college.
