Statement Regarding Ebola

Like many organizations in Northeast Ohio and around the country, The College of Wooster is closely monitoring news regarding the spread of the Ebola virus. We do not currently have students studying abroad in, or recently returned from, the areas covered by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s travel advisory – Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone – and the health care worker who was diagnosed after returning to Dallas from Cleveland earlier this week had been visiting family in Tallmadge, Ohio, more than 40 miles from Wooster.

The trained medical professionals who staff our Student Wellness Center, as well as our Security and Protective Services personnel, have established procedures and resources in place, including a negative pressure room, to contain an instance of viral infection. Reminders about those procedures are being shared with our students, along with guidelines for prevention, assessment, and intervention if needed. We also are in on-going contact with the Cleveland Clinic and the Wayne County Department of Health.

We will continue to monitor and rely on guidance from the Ohio Department of Health and the CDC. Please contact the Wellness Center at 330-263-2319 if you have concerns.

Flu Shot and Flumist Clinics

We are out of the flu vaccine and mist for the year. You may still be able to receive the vaccine at pharmacies and the Wayne County Health Department.
