Dr. Muñoz specializes in American politics, with a particular focus on the U.S. Congress, Latinx politics, and the various ways in which race and ethnicity shape all aspects of American politics. His work utilizes archival materials, elite interviews, and quantitative analyses to better understand the representation of minority interests in the United States. Currently, he is working on several projects that revolve around the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and its role in the House of Representatives. He teaches the introduction to U.S. national politics, Latinx politics and identity, and courses on Congress and political representation.
