Carolyn L. Buxton has served in many student affairs positions since she joined the Dean of Students Staff in 1993. A native of Central Pennsylvania, she has held positions in Student Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, Connecticut College, and Eugene Lang College/New School University. Dean Buxton earned a B.A. from Connecticut College and an Ed. M. from Harvard University/Graduate School of Education as well as certificates from professional institutes.
She has supervised several offices and programs in the Division of Student Affairs. Her areas of expertise include Residential Life, Student Conduct, Title IX, New Student Orientation, and ARCH, the summer registration program for all new students at The College of Wooster. Currently, Dean Buxton is serving as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of First-Year Students. She enjoys being able to combine her skills, programming for new student orientation with counseling and advocating for new students, to help ensure a smooth transition to the College.
Dean Buxton is a tireless volunteer at the College as well as in the greater Wooster Community. She enjoys preparing Jerk Chicken for her family and friends. The Jerk Chicken Luncheon she prepares to celebrate Commencement is legendary.
