Melissa Chesanko primarily works to ensure inclusion related to gender and sexuality by working directly with LGBTQIA+ students, developing programing, running the Safe Zone program and trans and non-binary support group, assisting with policy creation and procedures (such as preferred name change, pronouns, restrooms, etc.), and much more.
Prior to Wooster, Melissa taught Women's & Gender Studies and other courses, as well as working in Student Affairs and Training & Development positions at WVU.
Melissa enjoys exploring the area, outdoor walks, concerts, restaurants, and checking out new yoga studios or classes. You may see her around campus with her dog Greta, a larger-than-life miniature dachshund, and she also have a mischievous orange cat named Benson.
