About

Dr. Chesanko previously served as the Director of Sexuality and Gender Inclusion for seven years at the College of Wooster. In this role she worked to ensure inclusion related to gender and sexuality by working directly with LGBTQIA+ students, developing programing, running the Safe Zone program, facilitating queer and trans and nonbinary support groups, assisting with policy creation and procedures (such as name change, pronouns, restrooms, etc.), and much more.

Prior to Wooster, Melissa taught Women’s & Gender Studies and other courses, as well as working in Student Affairs and Training & Development positions at WVU.

Melissa enjoys exploring the area, outdoor walks, concerts, restaurants, and checking out new yoga studios or classes. You may see her around campus with her dog Molly, a doxle (dachshund and beagle mix) who is obsessed with fetch, and she also has a mischievous orange cat named Benson.
