Thomas is in his 8th year as Instructor of Percussion at The College of Wooster. He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from SUNY Fredonia and Master of Music Performance degree from The University of Akron. Thomas is timpanist with the Tuscarawas Philharmonic and percussionist with the Ohio Light Opera Orchestra and Wooster Symphony.
Thomas is featured on several professional recordings: timpanist with the Fredonia Wind Ensemble (2004), xylophonist with the Wooster Scot Symphonic Band (2008, 2011), and percussionist with the Akron Steel Band (2006) and Akron Graduate Percussion Ensemble (2007), a group that premiered "Big Falls, Little Falls" by Stuart Saunders Smith. Thomas performed concerti with orchestras on marimba, timpani, steel pans, and world percussion. He was solo xylophonist during two tours of the Eastern United States with the Scot Symphonic Band and is regularly featured on percussion recitals.
Thomas performed at three Percussive Arts Society International Conventions and was selected to perform for Keiko Abe Marimba Academy master classes in 2012. He works consistently with Ghanaian dance troupe Saakumu, directing residencies that promote cultural exchange. He was dance accompanist for modern, jazz, and tap classes at Akron and Kent State from 2005-2009. Thomas was part of the DCI division III world champion Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps in 2005 and continues actively with the Ohio Music Education Association and Educational Service Centers of Ohio, presenting lectures, performances, and demonstrations of percussion music.
