BWO strives to create a safe space on campus that empowers Black women on campus. The mission of the Black Women’s Organization is to promote self-love within Black women on campus by providing a space where Black women can showcase their full selves and feel accepted. This enables them to begin to re-imagine their size, gender, race, and age as assets that do not need fixing, instead, they can capitalize and build their careers around. BWO also serves to form these women into effective and active leaders on and off-campus by teaching them to specialize in coordinating campus-wide events that bring cultural awareness about the lived experiences of black women to the campus community.
