After discussing the needs of underrepresented students in STEM at the College of Wooster during the MLK Justice Dialogue of 2018, Minorities in STEM (MiSTEM) was created. Our purpose is to promote the involvement of underrepresented students in STEM through co-curricular activities, while attracting, recruiting, and retaining more underrepresented students in the STEM fields at Wooster. By strengthening the link between students and faculty, we are able to answer the question of what the college should be doing while also being active members, as students, in our community to make sure that every student can reach their full potential in the STEM fields from the moment they step into an Introductory STEM class.
