Studio Art Major/Minor

Major Requirements

Studio Art Major information

Eleven courses are required to fulfill the Studio Art major requirements:

  • One Introduction to Art History course: Prehistoric-Medieval or Renaissance-Modern
  • Introduction to Drawing
  • One (100 level) course from the following: Introduction to Sculpture or Introduction to Ceramics
  • One elective introductory (100 level) studio art course
  • Intermediate Drawing
  • Two elective studio art courses at the intermediate (200) or advanced (300) level
  • One from the following art history courses: Gender and Modern Art, Modern Art, or Art Since 1960
  • Junior Independent Study
  • Senior Independent Study (two semesters)

Minor Requirements

Studio Art Minor information

Six courses are required to fulfill the Studio Art minor requirements:

  • Introduction to Drawing
  • One course from the following: Introduction to Sculpture or Introduction to Ceramics
  • One elective introductory (100-level) studio art course
  • One course from the following: Introduction to Art History: Prehistory-Medieval, Introduction to Art History: Renaissance-Modern, Gender and Modern Art, Modern Art, or Art Since 1960
  • Two elective studio art courses at the intermediate (200) or advanced (300) level
