Internships and Experimental Learning Off-Campus

Here are just a few of the "hands-on" experiences that our majors had last summer.

Kennedy worked on camp programming and outreach for Science Playspace Initiative, Inc.

Chloe Burdette '21
Chloe worked for the Akron Rubberducks, a minor league baseball team in the Promotions Department and Video Production Department creating promotional videos and graphics

Gustavo Duran '20
Gustavo interned with Age-Friendly DC in the nation's capital. The oranganization, which works under the Deputy Mayor's office is designed to contruct a more suitable environment for those with disabilities and people of older age.

Korri worked as a marketing intern for TBS/TNT at Turner Broadcasting (now Warner Media).

Ariel Miller '17
Ariel worked as an assistant for a publicist in Atlanta where she did social networking work.

Eliza Somsel '15
Eliza was the sustainability intern at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she organized, facilitated, and created a standardized work for the hospital's Summertime Farm Stand.

Lauren Schoenwald '15
Lauren did promotional work at the Gay Games held in Cleveland, Ohio, this past summer.

Caroline Bybee '15
Caroline worked in Paraguay as a project supervisor for AMIGOS, a nonprofit she has volunteered for since she was 16, often promoting and advocating for the organization's events.

Larissa Branovacki '15
Larissa spent nearly 2 months in a culture exchange program in northwestern China, hosting English corners to help local Chinese students practice speaking English.

Drew Maakestad '15
Drew worked in a PR firm in Minnesota, where she helped to plan events and worked with both business and consumer aspects of the firm.

Quang Nguyen '16
Quang worked for Earth Rangers Camp 2014, an educational camp for young children in Hanoi, Vietnam. He formulated lessons and organized educational outdoor activities for hundreds of Vietnamese students.
