Pamela Pierce

Conference Organizer and Scientific Program Committee

Pamela Pierce is a Professor of Mathematics at The College of Wooster, where she has worked for 22 years. This is her second time hosting the Summer Symposium in Real Analysis, having organized the successful 2010 conference here at Wooster. Her undergraduate degree is from Amherst College and she earned her Ph.D. from Syracuse University under the direction of Daniel Waterman. Her work focuses on functions of generalized bounded variation, infinite series, and classical real analysis. Dr. Pierce serves on the editorial board for Math Horizons and she was the recipient of MAA’s Trevor Evans Award in 2010. She enjoys teaching a variety of courses at Wooster - especially Real Analysis. Outside of academia, she enjoys traveling, swimming, and choral music.

Ondrej Zindulka

Conference Organizer and Scientific Program Committee

Ondrej Zindulka is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Czech Technical University in Prague, and he is spending the academic year 2016-2017 as the Pocock Distinguished Visiting Professor of Mathematics at The College of Wooster. This is his second time hosting the Summer Symposium in Real Analysis, having co-organized (with Miroslav Zelen´y) the successful 2014 conference at Czech Technical University in Prague. Dr. Zindulka holds a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Charles University. His main areas of study are descriptive set theory, fractal geometry, real analysis, and geometric measure theory. He is an enthusiastic teacher of mathematics at all levels. Outside of academia, he enjoys singing, playing guitar, swimming, and traveling.

Miroslav Zelený

Scientific Program Committee

Miro Zelený is a member of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague. He currently serves on the editorial board of the Real Analysis Exchange. His main research areas include descriptive set theory, Borel classifications, and classical real analysis. Dr. Zelený was a featured speaker at the Summer Symposium XL in Sarajevo.

Jackie has been the Administrative Coordinator for the Departments of Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science at The College of Wooster for 28 years. She enjoys camping, hiking, running, cycling, and spending time with her six grandchildren.

Vedica Jha

Student Assistant

Vedica Jha is a student at The College of Wooster double majoring in Biology and Mathematics. She loves problem solving and writing: poetry, prose and songwriting. She is part of many on-campus organizations and as an international student from Bombay, India, she is actively involved in integrating the international and domestic community at her college. She enjoys listening music and thinks she has the best Spotify playlist of all time.

Student Assistant

Becca Foley is a sophomore at Kenyon College, majoring in Spanish and Italian with an Anthropology and Art History minor. She is the design editor for the campus newspaper and part of Zeta Alpha Pi sorority. In her free time she enjoys traveling, taking photos, going to art museums, drinking coffee, and hanging out with her dog, Sean.
