Scot Band

The Scot Band is a performing organization with an emphasis during the fall season on marching, featuring contemporary drill design and the best quality of appropriate music being prepared and performed.

The Scot Marching Band typically performs at home football games, a local high school band show, and other campus events in the fall.During the winter and spring, the Scot Symphonic Band focuses on musical excellence through the study and performance of the finest in wind band literature from all historical periods. Concerts are performed for audiences at home, at music education professional conferences, and on an annual spring tour, which has taken the band to 29 states, Washington, DC, and Ontario, Canada.

Admission to the Symphonic Band is by audition while membership in the Marching Band is open without audition to any student instrumentalist. Selected music education majors are provided opportunities to prepare and conduct compositions and to write drill for a marching band show.

The band members are clad in dress MacLeod tartan kilts, chosen because of the Scottish Presbyterian heritage of the College and includes bagpipers, Scottish drummers, and Highland dancers at every performance.
