Important Spring Update: Action Required

Dear Students:

I hope this message finds you enjoying much earned rest and relaxation as we begin Winter Break.

Before returning in January, we need some information from you. PLEASE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING SURVEY, which will give us the information we need to schedule your return. The survey will only take a few minutes to complete. (NOTE: Students planning to study remotely only need to submit the emergency notification info). The information below is for your reference and will also be posted on the 2020-2021 Guide.

Arrival Schedule

Seniors, International Students, RAs, and New/Transfer Students participating in New Student Orientation may move in on Saturday, January 16. All other students may move in on Sunday, January 17; Saturday, January 23; or, Sunday, January 24.  There are no limits on the numbers of students who can move in on the 17th, 23rd or 24th, so you can choose the date which is most convenient for your and for your family.  The virtual MLK Commemoration will take place throughout the day, Monday, January 18. Classes begin remotely Tuesday, January 19. In-person classes begin (public health circumstances permitting) on Monday, February 1. All students who intend to return for on-campus learning this Spring, must move in during one of the dates provided. We will not be pro-rating room and board fees based on your arrival date, so please select the date that best meets your travel needs.

Pre-Arrival Testing

Prior to returning to campus, you will need to take a test for COVID-19, which will be provided by the College. Self-administered test kits will be mailed to U.S. addresses the week of January 4. Tests will include instructions and will need to be taken and delivered to a UPS delivery drop the same day you take the test. The test must be completed and mailed by January 11th for an arrival on January 16-17. The test must be completed and mailed by January 18th for arrivals between January 23-24.   Students who test positive for COVID-19 will need to stay at home until they are released to travel (typically 10 days after a positive test or after the start of symptoms.)

Emergency Notification

We want to be sure that we can reach everyone if needed.  Before returning to campus housing, students will be required to provide a cell number that can receive text messages or phone calls in the event of an emergency. NOTE: If you do not have a cell phone that can receive calls or text messages while on campus please let us know or sign up for a free Google Voice number that can be used via WiFi from any smartphone, computer or tablet (You must create a Google account to access Google Voice). The Google Voice app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

Please complete the survey by Monday, December 21, 2020so that your test can be delivered on time. After completing the survey, you will be redirected to the Housing Self-Service Page in order to tell us which date you will be arriving. Arrival date selection will open on Monday, December 14. This must be completed by January 8, 2020 in order to have your card access activated.

Best wishes for a happy holiday season,

Dean Hernández
