Remote and/or Alternate Working Arrangements

According to the CDC, individuals with certain conditions may have a higher risk for COVID-19 infection. People at increased risk for severe illness may include older adults and people with underlying medical conditions. See the updated list on the CDC’s webpage.

Some conditions may include:

  • Older adults (aged 65 years and older)
  • People with HIV
  • Asthma (moderate-to-severe)
  • Chronic lung disease
  • Diabetes
  • Serious heart conditions
  • Chronic kidney disease being treated with dialysis
  • Severe obesity
  • Being immunocompromised

Some employees may also have concerns regarding the health of a family member in the home for whom potential exposure to COVID-19 infection is dangerous. If either of these apply to you, please contact Human Resources, humanresources@wooster.edu or call 330-263-2526, to discuss your concerns and to create a workable plan to address them. The College of Wooster will provide reasonable accommodations in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). Every effort is made to ensure the confidentiality of medical or health conditions (in accordance with HIPAA) for purposes of determining reasonable accommodations related to returning to the workplace. The College will not exclude an employee from the workplace solely because the employee has a medical condition that puts them at higher risk for illness due to COVID-19. In addition to all the protocols and changes being introduced, we are implementing, for the fall 2020 semester, a process for responding to individual requests for further accommodations related to COVID-19 based on personal circumstances. We may extend accommodations into the spring 2021 semester, without further requirements, as we learn more about the course of COVID-19.

Such accommodations could include measures such as: a special configuration of classrooms or workspaces, beyond those already planned; a change in the location or timing of your class or your work schedule; or enabling faculty, instructors, or staff to teach or work remotely. If you believe you may need further accommodation, we urge you to submit a request as soon as possible so we can begin working with you.

Contact Human Resources, humanresources@wooster.edu or call 330-263-2526, to initiate a request for COVID-19 related further accommodations. That request form is available online and asks for information based on the risk factors identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); these factors sometimes change so please make sure you review the CDC’s list of updated medical conditions
