Move-Out Procedures

How to Check Out

  • Complete the express check-out online.
    • Students will log into The Housing Director Self-Service
    • Scroll to the bottom to the section labeled “Express Checkout Process”
    • Select Use the “Select Time Block” (Note: It is listed for the entire semester).
    • Agree to the “Express Check-Out Agreement”
  • Return hard keys. If you live in a place that has hard keys please return those to Campus Access in Culbertson/Slater Complex (602 East Wayne Ave. Wooster, OH 44691). Please remember that the key replacement charge is approximately $150 per key.

Packing Supplies

Boxes are located in the main lobbies of all residence halls. While these boxes were originally intended to be used for Winter Break move-out they are available to any student who wishes to leave campus early. If you are in a house and need boxes, you may pick up boxes and packing tape at SPS.

Remove all items and clean

While we hope to have students back on campus for the spring semester, the public health picture for January is quite uncertain at this time, so we cannot be sure that everyone will be back in-person.  Therefore, we are asking all students to pack up their rooms before leaving campus this fall.  If possible, take your belongings home with you now.  If you cannot take them with you, please pack them in labelled boxes so that we can move, ship or store them safely if necessary.

All rooms will be deep-cleaned over winter break.

Be sure you take everything you need while not on campus until we reopen for the spring semester. This includes materials you will need for classes, items for personal health, and government documents. Once your checkout is complete, your CoW card will be deactivated.

If you are unable to take your items with you then you will be required to pack all items in boxes, or other sealable storage containers, and placed in the closet or on the bed. These containers need to be clearly labeled in case they need to be shipped.

Remove all items from the room and common areas and clean (your room/house must be in the condition it was when you moved in).

Microfridge Rentals

The College will work with Bedloft.com to make sure the fridges are returned. We already do this at the end of the year, we are just moving up our timeline for return.

Mail

We provide USPS mail forwarding as a courtesy for all first class domestic mail. First class USPS mail, presorted first class mail and periodicals are forward-able. All packages from non-USPS carriers are refused if a student is not on campus. Please email postoffice@wooster.edu if you would like your mail forwarded.

Returning Library Materials, Retreiving Carrel Items

The Libraries will offer pick up on Saturday, October 17, from 9 a.m. to 5 pm.  Otherwise, contactless materials pick up, i.e. Library TakeOut, is Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Seniors who have study carrels may request all items from their study carrels to be pre-bagged for scheduled time pick up by emailing circulation@wooster.edu.  Items left will not be mailed (so any items of personal value need to be requested to be bagged too and taken with students).

The Libraries do not mail physical items, so students need to take things with them (we will extend due dates as needed). Library items may be returned in the book return outside the Andrews Library West (patio side facing Kauke and Timken) entrance.

Travel Guidance

Parents can come to pick up student and belongings, but must be masked on campus at all times.  They cannot come in to any campus building.

Students should self-monitor symptoms while on campus. If a student has symptoms, it is best to get tested and wait for results before travelling.

If driving with more than one person in the car, please follow these recommendations:

    • It is best for only one person to pick up the student (so only two in car, one in front and one in back), if possible.
    • Both people should be masked at all times
    • Set vents to bring in fresh air.  Do not have them on “recirculate” and open a window a crack, if possible.
    • Bring hand sanitizer, and wash hands often.

Student Employment

The College will continue to pay all students whose jobs can be done remotely. If your student employment requires working in person, your supervisor will work with you to see if there is a way to temporarily convert it to remote work. If it is not possible for a student to work remotely, scheduled work-study hours and work hours of international students that are part of their financial aid package will still be paid.
