Nathan Shook currently teaches tuba and euphonium at The College of Wooster. Currently serving as the principal tuba for both Lakeside Symphony Orchestra and Rochester Symphony Orchestra, Nathan has also performed with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra,the Detroit Chamber Winds, the Erie Philharmonic, the Akron Symphony Orchestra, the Erie Philharmonic Brass Quintet, and The Cleveland Opera.

Nathan was awarded first place in the Midwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference orchestral mock competition and, as a member of the A2ba Quartet, won first place in the chamber music competition. He was also a semi-finalist in the International Tuba Euphonium Conference orchestral mock competition and won 3rd prize in the chamber music competition with A2ba Quartet.

Nathan is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Tuba Performance at the University of Michigan. He received a Master’s Degree in Tuba Performance and Chamber Music from UM, and earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music. He has previously studied with Ken Heinlein, Craig Knox, John DiCesare, and Yasuhito Sugiyama. Nathan has performed in master classes for Gene Pokorny, Charles Villarubia, Warren Deck, and Daniel Perantoni.
