Program Overview

Why pursue the Digital & Visual Storytelling Pathway?

Every organization, business, nonprofit, and community has stories to tell. Today's storytellers use photography, video, design, digital media, writing, data visualization, and emerging technologies to inform, persuade, inspire, and connect with audiences.

The Digital & Visual Storytelling Pathway helps students from any major develop the creative, technical, and critical skills needed to communicate effectively in a digital world. Through interdisciplinary coursework, experiential learning, and reflection, students learn to create compelling visual and digital stories while examining the ethical, cultural, and social impact of media.

Students also have opportunities to apply these skills beyond the classroom through internships, creative projects, faculty collaborations, and professional experiences. Recent projects have included documentary filmmaking, digital media production, public history initiatives, and visual communication internships.
