The Global Media & Digital Studies major combines a shared interdisciplinary foundation with opportunities to specialize through one of three areas of emphasis.
Digital Studies
Examine the digital technologies that shape how we communicate, learn, work, and create. Students explore the social, political, historical, and economic dimensions of digital culture while developing skills in digital research, analysis, and creative production.
Global Media
Study media systems, communication, and culture from an international perspective. Coursework prepares students to analyze media across borders while exploring journalism, public opinion, media industries, and global communication.
Film Studies
Approach film as both an artistic practice and a global cultural force. Students develop critical perspectives on cinema while gaining experience in film, video, and digital media production.
Students complete a flexible 10-course major that includes introductory coursework, research methods, media production, interdisciplinary electives, and both Junior and Senior Independent Study. Students interested in complementing another major may also pursue a flexible minor that can be tailored to their academic and professional goals.
