Timothy Freeze

Timothy D. Freeze is a visiting assistant professor of Music at The College of Wooster. He is editor of the forthcoming volumes of George Gershwin’s Concerto in F and “I Got Rhythm” Variations for the George and Ira Gershwin Critical Edition (Schott Music). His research on Gershwin’s works for piano and orchestra also appears in the Cambridge Companion to George Gershwin. His essays on Gustav Mahler, Aaron Copland, and Viennese operetta have been published by Oxford, Cambridge, and Böhlau presses. Before coming to Wooster, he taught at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and at IES Abroad in Vienna. He earned a Ph.D. in historical musicology from the University of Michigan in 2010, having held research fellowships from the Berlin Program for Advanced German European Studies, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Fulbright Program.
