Planning a Conference

The Office of Events at the College of Wooster will assist you with the initial planning through completion of your event.

Before arrival, the Office of Events will:

  • Help you find appropriate dates

  • Work with you to reach a mutually agreeable contractual arrangement

  • Coordinate your conference and camp needs with other necessary campus departments

  • Provide you with preliminary information regarding our campus and conference policies

Upon arrival, the Office of Events will:

Be on-call to help with any concerns or problems

Available Space

The College has numerous meeting and event rooms, which can seat as few as 10 people or as many as 1,400. Whether your conference calls for a beautiful banquet room, an auditorium, a traditional classroom, a computer lab, or an outdoor venue, we can work with you to identify the perfect meeting or event space(s).

Theft / Security: The College is not responsible for lost or stolen belongings. Guests are encouraged to leave valuable personal items at home. The Office of Events will hold all lost/found items for seven days. After this time, items will be discarded or donated to a local charity.

Internet Access

Wireless and Ethernet Internet access can be arranged for camp/conference directors and staff members through the Summer Conference Office. Internet Access Requests  (.doc) must be submitted to the Office of Events 14 days prior to check in date. All residence hall rooms are wired for internet access. When requesting wireless access, please provide your first and last name, organization name and an email address.

Mayer Bookstore

Check out the Mayer Bookstore located in Lowry Center at 1189 Beall Ave. for some great College of Wooster souvenirs and also, anything that you may have forgotten at home such as personal hygiene supplies (shower slippers, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the residence halls air conditioned?

Some of our residence halls are not air conditioned. Your camp director can let you know if the group will be staying in an air-conditioned building.

Do we need to bring our own sheets and towels?

The Summer Conference Office can provide linen packets when contracted to do so by the group. Check with your camp director to see if they are providing sheets and towels for your group.

What should a camper/conference attendee bring?

We recommend the following suggestions to make your stay more enjoyable:

  • Alarm Clock (wake-up calls are not provided)

  • Clothes Hangers

  • Personal Hygiene Supplies (shower slippers, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)

  • Pillows, sheets, blankets, towels, etc. (if your group has not ordered linen service)

  • Fan

  • Please note that our twin beds take extra long fitted sheets.

Do guestrooms have phone or internet access? There are no phones in the guest rooms. All residence hall rooms are wired for internet access. Wireless access is only given to camp/conference directors and staff members.
What are the dining/eating options on campus? The Campus Dining Services department provides meals and catering. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Special dietary needs can be pre-arranged with Campus Dining Staff.
What types of meeting spaces are available? The College has numerous meeting and event rooms, which can seat as few as 10 people or as many as 1,400. Are there recreational facilities available for camps/conferences? Yes, guests are welcome to use fields, tennis courts and gyms when not booked for camps.

The Summer Conference Office will hold all lost/found items for seven days. After this time, items will be discarded or donated to a local charity. To locate your lost and found item, please contact your camp/conference director or the Summer Conference Office.
Where do we park? All campus visitors must display a guest parking permit. Please let your group planner know that you will need a parking pass. Parking permits will be issued at registration locations. Parking permit will not be needed if guests are on campus for the day. Guests must follow the College’s parking regulations. Failure to do so may result in ticketing or towing.
Do you have a bookstore? Yes, we have a great bookstore, the Wilson Bookstore, which is located in Gault Schoolhouse at 716 Beall Ave. Check it out for some great College of Wooster souvenirs and also, anything that you may have forgotten at home like personal hygiene supplies (shower slippers, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.).
What about security on campus? Campus Safety is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They patrol around campus. In case of emergency, they can be contacted at 330-263-2590.
