Campus Message | Tuesday, January 20, 2025, 8:59 p.m.
While extremely cold temperatures have moved into Wooster, snow is not forecasted, and no travel advisories have been issued. All College offices will be open for business tomorrow (January 21, 2025) and classes will proceed as scheduled. Per the Faculty Handbook, faculty with concerns about commuting may use their discretion in holding classes in person or remotely. Per policy, staff with concerns about commuting may work directly with their managers to determine the best approach for their work.
To enable employees to get home before the coldest temperatures hit Tuesday night, we will shut down buildings and services early on Tuesday evening as follows:
- Academic classroom buildings will close at 5 p.m.
- Libraries will close at 8 p.m.
- Lowry Dining and the Lowry Center will close at 8 p.m.
- The Scot Center will close at 8 p.m.
If students experience heating problems in their residential space, please contact the Service Center at 330-287-3500, between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Outside of those hours, please contact Campus Safety at 330-263-2590.
Please be prepared, bundle up when you go outside, and also check in with your friends and colleagues during this period of extreme cold. Exposed skin can begin to show signs of frostbite in as little as 10 to 15 minutes outside, so it is extremely important to limit your time outdoors and dress in layers of clothing, including thick socks and warm shoes or boots, gloves or mittens, a hat covering your head and ears, and a scarf covering your face.
