Students in the Pre-Social Work program complete the requirements for a Bachelor of Arts at Wooster before continuing into the Master of Social Work program at Case Western Reserve University.
Eligible students may complete their senior year in absentia, allowing them to begin graduate study before receiving their Wooster bachelor's degree. Students interested in this option should work closely with their faculty advisor and the Dean for Curriculum and Academic Engagement to ensure they meet program requirements and application deadlines.

Students interested in the 3-2 B.A./M.S.W. program should work closely with their faculty advisor and the Dean for Curriculum and Academic Engagement to ensure they meet all requirements for participation.
General requirements include:
- Complete at least 24 semester courses, with a minimum of 16 completed at Wooster.
- No more than two approved transfer courses may be applied toward degree requirements for participation in the combined program.
- Complete all requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree except those fulfilled through the approved combined program, including completion of the major and Independent Study as outlined by the College.
- Plan the major carefully so remaining requirements can be completed without a course overload if needed.
- Students enrolled in combined professional programs may declare only one major.
- Apply in writing to the Dean for Curriculum and Academic Engagement by the end of the second semester of the sophomore year and obtain a recommendation from the major department.
- Students approved for the senior year in absentia complete a portion of the graduate program before the Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded.
- Wooster does not provide financial aid during the senior year in absentia.
