At Wooster, Spanish majors are more than language learners. Through the College's Independent Study program, you'll design a yearlong project that reflects your own interests while working one-on-one with a faculty mentor. Your project might take the form of scholarly research, a creative project, or experiential learning, and it can connect Spanish with another academic field.
Beyond Independent Study, you'll have opportunities to study abroad, present research at undergraduate conferences, work as a research or teaching assistant, and build lasting relationships with professors who support your academic and professional goals.

Scholarships & Student Opportunities
Spanish students may be eligible for:
- Ricardo Valencia Prize for Excellence in the Department of Spanish, awarded annually to the department's outstanding major.
- Roland H. del Mar Prize in Spanish, presented to the graduating senior with the highest achievement in Latin American studies conducted in Spanish or Portuguese.
Students can also strengthen their experience through Casa Hispánica, study abroad, APEX Fellowships, undergraduate research conferences, research assistantships, and teaching assistant opportunities.
