Fall 2026 Wooster magazine traces student experiences from practice to purpose

Experiences beyond the classroom help students at The College of Wooster discover new interests, build confidence, and consider meaningful vocations after graduation. The fall 2026 issue of Wooster magazine examines how research assistantships, professional experiences, and faculty-led international programs connect students' academic interests with opportunities to put their knowledge into practice.

The issue introduces students participating in nationally recognized scientific research programs, including through the Smithsonian and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Cech Fellowship. Other features follow students gaining professional experience through an APEX Fellowship in Kenya, a summer with the Ohio Light Opera, and AMRE consulting projects in Ghana. Faculty-led TREKs to Japan and Fiji and Tuvalu offer opportunities to explore globalization, culture, and climate justice. The issue also revisits a connection between Nobel laureate Arthur Compton, Class of 1913, and Victor Andrew, Class of 1926, that inspired a generous Andrew family gift supporting the renovation of Compton Hall.

Additional stories in Oak Grove introduce student-athletes Rachel Frank ’27 and Jack Kopachy ’30, revisit campus move-in traditions, and highlight donor support in the 2025-26 fiscal year. Tartan Ties spotlights alumni volunteer Cheryl Trautmann Boop ’85, profiles author Robyn Drothler ’95, and shares Reunion Weekend memories and class notes.

The fall 2026 issue of Wooster magazine is available online, and past issues of the magazine are available in the Open Works repository.
