The College of Wooster community celebrated its annual Giving Woo Day on Oct. 21, raising $501,521 from 463 individual gifts. Gifts made on Giving Woo Day support The Wooster Fund, which provides each student with opportunities through their college years for impactful and distinctive experiences, preparing them for an ever-changing world.
Under the theme “One Wooster. Your Words,” the donors showed their commitment to Wooster’s students by taking advantage of generous matching opportunities, doubling the value of many contributions. The result was an outpouring of support that underscores the belief in Wooster’s transformative educational experience.
“Giving Woo Day is an incredible testament to the power of our Wooster community. Our supporters on Giving Woo Day strengthen the very fabric of our network and ensure that each student has the opportunity to discover their potential while at Wooster,” said Carolyn Ciriegio ’08, vice president for advancement.
Gifts to The Wooster Fund touch virtually every area of campus life, provide the flexibility to meet the College’s greatest needs, and ensure that Wooster continues to deliver on its promise of academic excellence, mentorship, and student opportunities.
Support for The Wooster Fund directly impacts the following areas:
- Financial Aid: Ensure Wooster is accessible to all so the College can continue to educate students based on their strengths and potential, not their ability to pay.
- Experiential Learning: Support students pursuing immersive educational experiences, preparing them for careers shaped by the impact of their real-world knowledge and experience.
- Mentored Research: Help fund Wooster’s elite Independent Study experience, as well as the numerous other opportunities students have to complete hands-on research under the mentorship of expert faculty.
- Campus Life: Ensure each student’s Wooster experience is full of opportunities to deepen connections with one another and explore Wooster’s rich history of traditions.
- Faculty & Staff Support: Help fund faculty and staff excellence through professional development, faculty research, and sabbatical, all of which enable them to be experts in their fields.
