Areas of Interest

Lisa’s research bridges bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology and focuses on the interpretation of burned human skeletal remains and cremation funerals. Her ongoing projects in this area utilize morphometric analysis and machine learning to interpret burn scenarios. She has collaborated with international teams and conducted fieldwork in Italy and Spain and casework in Greece and Belize. In addition to osteological analysis, Lisa is very interested in creating more accessible and equitable academic environments as well as developing ethical practices for teaching human skeletal analysis.
