Summary:
The Programmer / Analyst designs and supports data retrieval, reporting and management systems to meet user needs, requiring analyzing need, conducting feasibility studies, evaluating costs, designing and developing in-house data processing solutions, establishing testing criteria, and creating documentation. Provides support for purchased administrative software.
This position is onsite, with the potential for remote work arrangements in the future, depending on employee performance and operational needs.
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implements, maintains and supports purchased software.
- Supports ERP/administrative systems by assisting with reports and data extraction.
- Creates programs or systems to meet the needs of administrative users.
- Configures software, following proper approval procedures.
- Provides training and support to end users.
- Creates and maintains procedural and process documentation.
- Troubleshoots and resolves administrative software problems.
- Creates, facilitates, and maintains processes that transfer information among administrative systems.
- Manages projects and coordinates resources.
- Promotes the uniformity of the programming effort by contributing to and adhering to the department’s standards and guidelines.
- Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses and attending training and conferences as required by the director.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with mainframe environments, Linux, and Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Skills:
- Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
- Adept at solving practical problems and navigating non-standardized situations.
- Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Knowledge:
- Proficiency in calculating discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and geometric concepts.
- Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Advanced computer skills with experience in SQL, relational databases, and enterprise-wide systems.
- Programming skills required, with knowledge of JavaScript, .NET, C#, or UniBasic preferred.
- Requires experience with SQL and relational databases and enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, flat file transfers, and system intercommunication.
Abilities:
- Capable of maintaining as well as growing skillset as technology and solutions evolve.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Work Environment:
- Climate controlled office environment.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
