Archaeology Day Scheduled For This Saturday at The College of Wooster
WOOSTER – On Saturday, Oct. 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the archaeology program and the archaeology student colloquium at The College of Wooster will hold the 21st annual Archaeology Day. This event is presented in conjunction with International Archaeology Day, which is sponsored by a number of organizations in the U.S. and abroad, including the Archaeological Institute of America and the Society for American Archaeology.
All activities will take place indoors in Babcock Hall (1315 Beall Ave.). The events will include demonstrations of flintknapping and showing how ancient Indians made stone tools. Activities for children include an “excavation” in which they can find artifacts, reconstructing broken pottery, and “cave painting.”
Artifacts from sites in Ohio and Jordan will be on display, along with casts of fossil humans that depict the origin and evolution of our species. There will be informational booths about the work of the Wayne County Cemetery Preservation Society and the Wayne County Historical Society.
