WOOSTER, Ohio – The Wooster Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Jeffrey Lindberg, will open the season with two performances featuring pianists Shitong Sigler ’12 and Yuka Nakayama-Lewicki, both piano instructors at Wooster, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m., in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. The concert will spotlight Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th anniversary in 2020 with a performance of his 7th symphony in A major, Op. 92. Also on the program will be Gioacchino Rossini’s overture to “Semiramide” and Francis Poulenc’s concerto in D minor for two pianos and orchestra, FP 61.

Sigler, a versatile pianist with styles ranging from baroque to contemporary, is a dedicated international performing concert pianist and chamber musician across the U.S., Europe, and her home country of China. She received a bachelor of arts degree from Wooster and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University, where she is currently pursuing a doctorate.
Lindberg, professor of music at Wooster, is also the director of the highly acclaimed Chicago Jazz Orchestra, Chicago’s oldest professional jazz orchestra, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary.
