Job Description:

The Department of Communication Studies invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor of rhetorical studies with expertise in public policy and civic engagement to begin August 2024. The successful candidate will teach courses including Communicating Public Policy, Rhetoric and Civic Engagement, a course on the topic of their interest, and Public Speaking. In addition, the successful candidate will advise Senior Independent Study thesis projects on student-generated topics. Loads are 3:3.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and/or an interdisciplinary Ph.D. with a focus on rhetoric at the time of appointment. Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but a Ph.D. is preferred. Prior teaching is desirable, and applicants should provide evidence of their ability to teach introductory and upper-level courses.
