Job Description:

The Physics Department at The College of Wooster invites applications for a one-semester Visiting Assistant Professor, from August to December 2024, to teach upper and lower-level physics courses and labs.

The department has four full-time faculty members, graduates approximately 12 majors annually, and is an inclusive community with close faculty-student interactions and mentoring. We have active astronomy and physics clubs, and our physics club has won national awards for its elementary school outreach program. The College of Wooster enrolls a diverse student body (24% domestic students of color and 17% international students). Qualifications

Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education.  Ph.D. or ABD in Physics or related field is required.

Candidates should demonstrate engaging and inclusive teaching practices and have the ability to effectively mentor students from historically marginalized groups (including though not limited to BIPOC individuals and women). We invite applications from candidates who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community and who are committed to ensuring the success of diverse student populations. The successful candidate will teach up to two courses and two labs.
