 The College of Wooster is seeking an individual to drive college buses, shuttle vehicles and service vehicles to provide safe, reliable transportation of visitors, and members of the college community.

ESSENTIAL DEPARTMENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and optimizes trip routes and makes alterations to meet the needs of the individual group.  Assists in the planning of the rest and meal stops.
  • Assists passengers in and out of the college vehicles and assists to load and unload passenger luggage that needs to be stored.
  • Is available as scheduled to drive the college buses, shuttle vehicles and service vehicles.
  • Conducts safety inspections and is responsible for compliance of all state and federal regulations of the college buses.
  • Electronically completes one safety inspection per day for every bus trip.
  • Maintains an accurate, up to date driver logbook. 
  • Fills out all required information for the trip packet, including mileage, hours to be charged and all expenses.
  • Turns in all forms, log sheets and inspections sheets for each trip.
  • Assists in maintaining bus records including fuel consumption, added fluids and maintenance service performed.
  • Performs safety checks of the buses, such as fuel and fluid levels, interior and exterior lighting, the operation of all vehicle accessories, and the status of on-board equipment such as fire extinguishers, emergency triangles, first aid kit, toolbox, and extra light bulbs, engine filters, engine belts and wiper blades.  

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training.
  • Must have valid Ohio CDL driver’s license (passenger CDL).

  WORK ENVIRONMENT: (Describe the working environment)

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the driver is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.  The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
