WOOSTER, Ohio — The College of Wooster’s Percussion Ensemble will present a free public concert on Friday, Nov. 30, in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.). The performance, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will center around the music and career of John Cage, who would have turned 100 this year.
Featured works include El Jabali (traditional Mexican), IV (Beyer), Living Room Music (Cage), Ya Ya Kole (traditional Ghanaian xylophone), Fugue (Harrison), and Kpatsa (traditional Ghanaian drumming).
The ensemble consists of first-year students Joe Caffrey, Sam Corman Penzel, Tess Henthorne, Eric Hubbard, Mitchell Ryan, and Bridget Slone; sophomores Courtney Astrom, Christopher Scimecca, Joey Smith, and Robert Taliaferro; juniors Nathaniel Boyer, Daniel Catalano, Marjorie Etheridge, and Benjamin Turner; and seniors Abigail Douglas, Michael Janning, and Zachary Kelly.
