College Mourns the Passing of Barbara Bell
WOOSTER, Ohio – Barbara L. Bell, who served The College of Wooster for 24 years as a librarian, passed away on July 28 in Northampton, Mass. She was 75.
Bell worked in the college’s libraries from 1980 until her retirement in 2004, primarily as a government documents librarian. Her career also included work for the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture, the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University, and the Wayne County Public Library. She is survived by her husband, Richard H. Bell, a professor of philosophy at the college from 1969 to 2004, as well as their children, Jonathan and Rebecca, and three grandsons.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mackey Hall, 353 E. Pine St., in Wooster. A complete obituary may be found in the Daily Record.
