Niche Puts Wooster in Top 3% of Colleges “With the Best Professors in America”
WOOSTER, Ohio – Niche, a college search site that combines Department of Education data with more than 30 million reviews and poll responses to evaluate U.S. colleges and universities, ranks The College of Wooster in the top three percent of those “with the best professors in America.”
Wooster ranks number 45 overall among the country’s best liberal arts colleges, according to Niche, and is the number five college in Ohio. Rounding out the top five are The Ohio State University, Kenyon College, Case Western Reserve University, and Oberlin College.
The site gives Wooster individual grades of A+ for academics, A for diversity, and A- for value.
“Not only are Wooster professors among the best in America,” said Scott Friedhoff, Wooster’s vice president for enrollment and college relations, “their impact is magnified by the fact that they work one-on-one with every senior on a yearlong research or creative project. That experience helps every Wooster student develop the characteristics that employers and graduate schools are looking for: independent judgment, analytical ability, creativity, communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects.”
More than half of all college-bound high school students use Niche to research colleges. Niche rankings are based on rigorous analysis of academic, admissions, financial and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and alumni.
The College of Wooster is America’s premier college for mentored undergraduate research. By working one-on-one with a faculty adviser to conceive, organize, and complete an original research project, written work, performance or art exhibit, every Wooster student develops independent judgment, analytical ability, creativity, project-management and time-management skills, and strong written and oral communication skills. Founded in 1866, the college enrolls approximately 2,000 students.
