Wooster Chorus to Open Black and Gold Weekend with Performance
WOOSTER, Ohio – The Wooster Chorus, under the direction of Lisa Wong, will present a brief concert on Friday, Oct. 18, at The College of Wooster to open Black and Gold Weekend. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Founded in 1964, the Wooster Chorus is comprised of students representing all academic areas within Wooster’s liberal arts program. Third-place winners of the 2018-19 American Prize in Collegiate Choral Performance, the Chorus has been praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, creative programming, and engaging performances. The Chorus collaborates annually with the Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, and has premiered a number of works by American composers, including Eric Whitacre and Jake Runestad. The Chorus has performed at the Central Region conference of the American Choral Directors Association, and also several times at the state conference of the Ohio Music Education Association.
