Wooster Chorus and Wooster Singers to Present Joint Concert Saturday, Nov. 23

The Wooster Chorus and the Wooster Singers will present a joint concert on Saturday, Nov. 23, at The College of Wooster. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in Gault Recital Hall of Scheide Music Center (525 E. University St.) beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Wooster Chorus, under the direction of Lisa Wong, will present an eclectic program of contemporary choral music, including the work of American composers Stephen Paulus and Jake Runestad. At the heart of the program is a set of three beautiful carols, featuring senior Imogen Campbell Hendricks as the oboe soloist.

The Wooster Singers, directed by Jennifer Call, will perform a set of choral gems including Randall Thompson’s The Road Not Taken and John Rutter’s Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind.

Both choirs, totaling over 100 singers, will combine to conclude the concert.

Founded in 1964, the Wooster Chorus is comprised of students representing all academic areas within Wooster’s liberal arts program. Third-place winners of the 2018-19 American Prize in Collegiate Choral Performance, and second-place winners of the Ernst Bacon Memorial Award for the Performance of American Music, the Chorus has been praised for its beautiful sound, high level of artistry, creative programming, and engaging performances. The Wooster Singers is a non-auditioned, mixed-voice choral ensemble and performs a variety of music on and off campus throughout the academic year.
