So what’s with the Tootsie Roll?

When Wooster seniors hand in their research projects, they’re handed back a black-and-gold button that proclaims, “I Did It,” plus a Tootsie Roll. (If you know any Wooster alumni, ask whether they still have theirs!)

I.S. Monday – A Celebration of Academic Proportions

I.S. Monday is the celebration to end all celebrations. It’s the final day to turn in your I.S. project. You’ll see a lot of high fives and hugs, Tootsie Rolls (candies, costumes, and inflatables!), turn-in photoshoots with friends, and a Mardi Gras-style parade with the entire College cheering on you and your classmates.

Check out past I.S. Monday celebrations to get a feel for the pride and excitement!

My favorite part of the I.S. experience was being able to run my very own focus groups, analyze my own data, and then draw my own conclusions from the data. It is an amazing feeling to read and study research in your field, and then add to it with your own research.”

Field work has been the most exciting part of I.S. It is the hands-on experience that makes it the most fun. It is so great to be able to go out to creeks to find salamanders, swab them to get their DNA sample, and let them go. In addition to field work, writing my I.S. has been the most fulfilling writing experience I’ve had at Wooster.”
