Rev. Jon Fancher ’78 is The College of Wooster’s Interim Chaplain. A Wooster graduate with a B.A. in Speech, he has remained closely connected to the College throughout his life. Born in Virginia and raised in the Chicago area, Jon came to Wooster from an international high school in Jakarta, Indonesia, where his father taught at the Jakarta Theological School. Rev. Fancher is Pastor Emeritus of Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Rocky River, Ohio, where he served from 1991 until his retirement in 2022, following earlier ministry in Michigan. Before entering ministry, he worked in consumer and surgical sales for Procter & Gamble. Rev. Fancher holds M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Jon and his wife, Mary ’78 (B.Mus.Ed.), met while singing in Wooster’s Concert Choir. They live in Rocky River, Ohio, and have three adult sons and one grandson.
