Daniel Overly is forging a promising career as a pianist, chamber musician, and vocal coach. He studied collaborative piano with a Fulbright Grant at the Musik und Kunstuniversität der Stadt Wien (MA in Vocal Coaching) and at the Cleveland Institute of Music (DMA in Collaborative Piano). In addition, he has taken part in festivals such as the Franz-Schubert-Institut, the Oxford Lieder Festival, the Britten-Pears Young Artist Program, and the Tanglewood Music Center(Leonard Bernstein Fellow).

An active recitalist, Overly has performed with members of The Cleveland Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and the Vienna Philharmonic. Festival appearances include the Aspen, Tanglewood, and Ravinia virtual series on Chicago’s WFMT. As an opera coach, he has helped to prepare productions of Così fan tutte, Faust, Il trovatore, Il viaggo a Reims, La bohème, La traviata, and Samson et Dalila. Since 2015, he has enjoyed a relationship with The Cleveland Orchestra and Choruses that has included assistance with the preparation of Bach St. John Passion, Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem, Duruflé Requiem, Dvořák Stabat Mater, Haydn Die Jahreszeiten, Poulenc Gloria, und Stravinsky Threni.

Overly is currently the pianist for the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, and Blossom Festival Chorus. He has served as Visiting Assistant Professor ofVoice/Collaborative Piano at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and Collaborative Piano Fellow at the Yale School of Music. Highlights of the 2021/22 season include his Severance Hall Debut in the two-piano version of the Brahms Requiem with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, his Philadelphia Chamber Music Society debut with tenor James Reese, and the preparation of Verdi’s Otello with The Cleveland Orchestra.
